Wales has five Michelin stars for 2015
Welsh food is on the resurgence and five restaurants in Wales have been awarded a Michelin star for 2015 – the highest number since 2002. Last year’s three Michelin stars, The Walnut Tree in Abergavenny, Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo and The Checkers at Montgomery, have been joined by Ynyshir Hall in Machynlleth, and The Crown at Whitebrook.
Ynyshir Hall’s head chef, Gareth Ward, joined the restaurant from Sat Bains in Nottingham and has been named ‘one to watch’, thanks to his innovative, light and fresh food combinations.
Meanwhile, the Crown at Whitebrook takes inspiration from its surroundings of the Wye Valley, with exceptional local ingredients and foraged findings from the valley used to create dishes that reflect a deep connection to the area.
