Aberystwyth ready for summer season after winter storm clean-up
Tourism businesses in Aberystwyth are putting the word out that they are ready for the upcoming summer season with a £50,000 newspaper, radio and television campaign.
Work has been taking place to open up for the summer season and to push out the message that Aberystwyth’s attractions and accommodation will be carrying out business as usual.
Funding has been made available for regeneration and repairs following the winter storms that damaged the area in December and January and led to some residents on the sea front being urged to evacuate.
Aberystwyth was one of the areas worst-hit by this January’s storms, with the town’s historic seafront and pier particularly badly damaged.
The total cost of repairing the storm damage in Ceredigion is estimated at more than £1.5m.
In January, the Welsh government announced Ceredigion council would receive £560,000 towards the costs of damage repair.
